Introducing You to Me

This picuture reflects a lot of my personal style and interests. (Picture courtesey of Google Images)
My name is Kaitlin and I am a senior in high school who takes duel credit classes out at the local community college. I would be lying if I said I didn't use technology on a day to day basis. I am constantly on my phone or checking my email throughout the day. Being a student in high school and college, technology plays a big role in my everyday life. Academically, I use technology to look up information on certain subject, or to watch a video on how to do a math problem. I use technology almost everyday for schoolwork. When it comes to being social, I use technology to stay in touch with family members and friends. Whether it is Instagram or Facebook, there are always ways I can stay in touch with the people that mean the most to me. Professionally, technology helps me stay connected with the professional world and helps me to learn to do my best and plan for the future. When it comes to using technology for personal use, I like to use technology and the internet when I have a lot of down time. I am constantly surfing the internet looking for new and intriguing  things that catch my attention. Things that really interest me are photography, music, oddities, and anything vintage. The internet really opens my eyes to new and exciting things that have to do with my favorite interests. There are many different uses for technology and it seems that I enable all of those uses to their highest potential. Whether it be for academic, social, professional, or personal reasons, technology is involved in my day to day life and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be leaving in the near future or anytime soon.

A Little Bit About Myself & Technology

Helpful or Hurtful?

We all have a different opinion when it comes to technology. Does technology help us? Does technology hurt us? Both of those questions cause us to really stop and analyze our daily use of technology and just how much of it actually helps us. Personally, I believe that technology helps me, a college student, by giving me many online resources that help me with daily homework assignments. The internet has a never-ending amount of information that can be available to us at the push of a single button. Although technology has its advantages, there seem to be some downfalls to it as well. Online bullying, cheating on exams and online predators are only three of the many harmful things that come from having access to technology. If fallen into the wrong hands or if it is used inappropriately, technology can be seen as a whirlwind of disaster and chaos. Even though there are many harmful things that can come from technology I believe that if used responsibly and in the hands of the right person, technology can be a wonderful tool that can help us expand our knowledge and further explore all of the countless questions constantly running through our minds. Anything if used inappropriately can become a hazard to ourselves, but just like anything else if the internet and technology is used appropriately and respectfully, it can be used as a great learning tool and be one of the best things that will help us in more ways than we can imagine.
